Seeking
AVRC is seeking investment capital to accelerate growth through development of prototypes to current customer requests.
AVRC is also seeking to network for clients, strategic partners and new business opportunities. By way of example, AVRC is the USA Factor representative for CALB and can offer excellent quality and economy in lithium-ion batteries, both small and large format as well as associated EVSE product. AVRC is also the US importer of note for AD Motors and is currently offering the pure electric CHANGE NEV to the American domestic market.
In closing, AVRC is also interested in new technologies with regard to energy storage systems and the SmartGrid. Our most recently completed project, funded by the Department of Energy, is a novel LABoratory Rapid Application Testbed (LABRAT) designed by our senior research scientist, Dr. Yimin Gao. This rolling chassis platform can go on the road or on a dynamo, has 64 channels of I/O and a proprietary software design by CYBERMETRIX. It has already offered many companies a whole new world in terms of enabling their design and build teams to design, build and test in hours and days, not weeks and months with a highly flexible tool. Electric Vehicle design time and costs can both be reduced by as much as 90% we're finding.
Expertise and Resources
AVRC completed construction and occupied a new 16,000 square foot engineering center in the Cyberpark in Danville, Virginia in 2009.The building includes a research lab where our current Department of Energy research is conducted. Other research activities are done in one of our several large (1,600 square foot) bays capable of housing vehicles from passenger cars to busses. The building also contains our facilities for fabrication, including cutting and welding. AVRC has an adjacent 60+ acre off-road course area being developed to accommodate requests from military and off-road manufacturers. This Military Off-Road Testing Site (MORTS) adjoins the Danville Regional Airport and is expandable to 200+ acres. It will also be used to test electric, hybrid, flex-fuel and autonomous robotic vehicles for government and military contracts.
AVRC offers several services for tenants who are incubating at the facility, including but not limited to access to intellectual property and market analytics, office space leasing, business development consulting, administrative support and the standard office amenities. Support from in-house technicians, advanced manufacturing experts and scientists are also available.
AVRC staff includes Dr. Yimin Gao as our chief scientist. Dr. Gao is the co-author of the definitive text: “Modern Electric, Hybrid Electric, and Fuel Cell Vehicles, fundamentals, theory and design”. Business planning and development is done by Executive Director, Mr. Richard (Dick) Dell Sr. Research Technician David Beard has more than 25 years of experience in electric vehicles and advanced composite materials. Our program manager, Richard Dell Jr. is specialized in technology transfer, intellectual property, research and communications. Other AVRC staff members have significant experience in manufacturing, vehicle conversion, automotive technology, marketing, software and web development.
The LabRAT will offer a fast and accurate way to test electric vehicle drive-trains and energy storage systems in a real world environment. The platform can be quickly configured to give real chassis dynamometer results on any platform design from 2,000 lbs. GVW to 10,000 lbs. GVW.
